Lee Fryland

Lee Anne Fryland graduated from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA in 1984, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Prior to Fryland attending Drexel and becoming a member of the women's tennis team, she was part of one of the first female classes admitted to the United States Naval Academy. After two years at the USNA, she decided to transfer to Drexel and earned a walk-on scholarship for the women's tennis team. Lee served as the team captain for the 2 years she played. While a part of the Drexel College of Computing & Informatics, Lee stood out and excelled in the classroom by leading and working to better others. She leveraged Drexel’s well-known Co-Op program and worked for RCA Missile Surface and Radar in Moorestown, New Jersey for two years before accepting a full-time position following graduation.
Lee considers herself extremely privileged to have begun her career in information technology during its infancy. While her work at RCA Missile Surface and Radar provided phenomenal learning experiences of how businesses were using technology she knew she wanted to be on the cutting edge and work for an information technology vendor. Her 10 years with Digital Equipment Corporation in the late 1980s/early 1990s provided an accelerated career path centered around her passion for solving complex business problems through the use of technology. Lee has spent the last 20 years leveraging her skills in technology and the financial services industry to manage Change for various organizations. Her roles in leading organizations in strategic planning through execution have afforded the opportunity to work with extremely talented colleagues. One of Lee’s most rewarding opportunities includes working with really smart college interns. She has worked with CofC over the last couple of years to build an intern program at South State and have CofC students fill intern roles for the bank.
Lee moved her family to South Carolina almost 20 years ago. She moved to Charleston in 2014 from Columbia. Lee is active in several “justice” organizations. Through her church, Circular Congregational Church, she supports the Charleston Area Justice Ministry, CAJM, and the Alliance For Full Acceptance, AFFA, organization. Lee is blessed to have 3 children. Her daughter Catherine is a graduate of CofC. Her other two children, Mary and Christian live in Dallas, TX and James Island respectively. If you run into Lee when she is not working, odds are she is playing with her granddaughter Eleanor and her yellow lab Hansen. She also spends her weekends working on her golf game and enjoying all the other recreational activities Charleston has to offer.
