She and her husband Ralph are proud parents of two adult sons, both of whom work in health care. The Hilsman family enjoys spending as much time as possible in Charleston.  Dr. Hilsman maintains a deep, abiding affection for the College.

These are exciting times. She will strive to uphold the traditions of the College, with its unique blend of liberal arts, student-professor relationships and opportunities for experiential learning while developing new programs with STEM.  Dr. Hilsman believes that it is indeed possible to think global and act local, preserve tradition and try new things. The possibilities for the College of Charleston going forward are endless!
