The Honorable Sylleste Helms Davis

davisSylleste Davis graduated from the College of Charleston in 1983, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.   While at the College, Sylleste was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and served as President of the Panhellenic Council.  She was also a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, a mathematics honor society, and Phi Kappa Phi.

Shortly after beginning a career at Santee Cooper, a South Carolina electric and water utility, in the burgeoning field of information technology, Sylleste earned a Master’s degree from Webster University in the field of computer and information resources management.  Following 20 years in information technology, she held the positions of Manager, Wholesale Markets and Manager, Nuclear Contract Administration.  In 2014, she retired from Santee Cooper after a 31-year career and currently serves in the South Carolina House of Representatives for District 100 representing a portion of Berkeley County.

Sylleste has devoted countless hours to volunteering for educational organizations and causes, including Read with a Child, Junior Achievement, Berkeley Middle School PTO, Berkeley Middle School Improvement Council, and the Berkeley High School Academic Booster Club, where she has served as Secretary and Treasurer.   At the state level, Sylleste chaired the Board of Trustees of the South Carolina School Improvement Council (SC-SIC) and chaired the SC-SIC Awards Committee responsible for the selection of the recipient of the annual Dick and Tunky Riley Award for SIC Excellence.

A longtime resident of Moncks Corner, Sylleste is married to Michael Davis and together they have four sons and two grandchildren.  She is a member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church.
